On January 31, 2024, the event titled "100 Women in the 100th Year of the Republic" organized by the 29 Ekim Kadınları Derneği (29th October Women's Association) took place at the Tekirdağ Chamber of Commerce and Industry Conference Hall. Prof. Dr. Neşe ATİK and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Süleyman ÖZMEN from Istanbul Rumeli University participated as speakers.
Prof. Dr. Neşe ATİK presented the remarkable life story of Muazzez İlmiye Çığ, a prominent figure in Turkish history and science, born on June 20, 1914 in Bursa, focusing on her contributions to the Turkish scientific community.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Süleyman ÖZMEN shared the stages of the Turkish women's struggle for esteem throughout history with the participants. Emphasizing that there is no masculine/feminine distinction in the Turkish language, ÖZMEN stated that in Turkish customs, women are considered the most valuable treasure and are highly esteemed. He highlighted the significant roles women played during the Turkish War of Independence and emphasized Mustafa Kemal Atatürk's efforts to restore the deserved value of Turkish women in Turkish customs.
The event, attended by Seval EŞER, the President of the 29 Ekim Kadınları Derneği Tekirdağ Branch, Recep YILDIZ, the President of the Turkey Retired Officers Association (TESUD) Tekirdağ Branch, Women's Branch Presidents of various political parties, representatives from various parties and institutions, as well as many citizens, attracted significant attention.
