The "Goodness, Righteousness, Beauty" panel and photography exhibition event, jointly organized by Istanbul Rumeli University, Faculty of Sports Sciences, and the Fair-Play Commission of the Turkish National Olympic Committee, took place on Wednesday, April 17th, at the Saffet Çerçi Sports Hall located within our Faculty of Sports Sciences.
The TMOK University Fair Play Caravan continued its activities with our university in 2024, maintaining a tradition that has garnered significant interest nationwide for the past 10 years. The event, hosted by our university, commenced with an opening speech by Acting Rector Prof. Dr. Mustafa Kara, who emphasized the importance of Atatürk's quote, "I love the sportsperson who is intelligent, agile, and moral." Following this, Prof. Dr. M. Yavuz Taşkıran, Dean of our Faculty of Sports Sciences and a TMOK member, expressed his happiness in hosting the TMOK Fair Play Caravan at our institution and thanked the Fair-Play Commission for their visit.
After the opening speeches, TMOK Fair-Play Commission Chairman Erdoğan Arıpınar presented special plaques to Acting Rector Prof. Dr. Mustafa Kara, Dean Prof. Dr. M. Yavuz Taşkıran, Prof. Dr. Hakan Levent Gül, and Prof. Dr. Nurper Özbar, who will officiate as an International Women Referee in Volleyball at the Paris Olympics. Subsequently, plaques were presented to the panelists; TMOK Fair Play Commission Chairman Erdoğan Arıpınar, Fair Play Commission Member Prof. Dr. İbrahim Yıldıran, Fair Play Commission Member Prof. Dr. Bilge Donuk, Dean of the Faculty of Sports Sciences at Trakya University and IVF Referee Prof. Dr. Nurper Özbar, Fair Play Commission Member Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sevim Güllü, and our moderator Prof. Dr. Yavuz Taşkıran, by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mustafa Erol. The Fair-Play Commission members also honored all the personnel involved in the organization at our university with the Fair-Play Service Medal and Service Certificate.
Following the ceremonies, our invited guest speakers, under the moderation of Prof. Dr. M. Yavuz Taşkıran, delivered presentations on various topics related to fair play, raising awareness among participants and illustrating models of behavior that should be exhibited in sports. They eloquently conveyed the principles of entertainment, friendship, brotherhood, honesty, and sportsmanship that should guide sportsmanship with exemplary stories. The participation and interest of our faculty members and students in the organization were quite high. The panel concluded with the "Fair-Play Oath" after the speech by Fair-Play Commission Member Remzi Yılmaz.
It was observed that the satisfaction level of our students and all participants was quite high after the panel. We extend our thanks to everyone who supported this event, particularly our Rectorate and Dean's Office Management.
