The 18th of March Çanakkale Victory and Martyrs Commemoration Program took place at the Akın Akkan Conference Hall on the Mehmet Balcı Campus of Istanbul Rumeli University. The program began with a moment of silence and the national anthem, followed by a video presentation highlighting the significance of the day.
Acting Rector, Associate Professor Dr. Mustafa KARA, delivered an address emphasizing the importance of the Çanakkale Victory and the martyrs. A magnificent musical performance was presented by a student from our University Music Club in memory of the 18th of March Çanakkale Victory and Martyrs.
Associate Professor Dr. Süleyman ÖZMEN conducted a presentation titled "The Place Where the Destiny of the Turkish Nation Was Rewritten: Çanakkale," providing the audience with an unforgettable experience. In his presentation, he deeply explored the historical and strategic significance of the Çanakkale Victory, showcasing the bravery and determination of the Turkish nation. He underscored that the Çanakkale Campaign was not merely a triumph but also an enduring example of the Turkish nation's willpower and struggle throughout history.
ÖZMEN's presentation delved into historical details, taking the audience on an impactful journey. By emphasizing that Çanakkale was not just a geographical location but also a place where the destiny of the Turkish nation was shaped, he helped the audience better understand the spirit of Çanakkale. This compelling presentation served as a reminder that the Çanakkale Victory remains an enduring symbol.
Throughout the program, exhibits included the medal certificate (medal berat) awarded to veterans who completed their military service during the Balkan Wars for 12 years after the Çanakkale Campaign, as well as a Mauser rifle and its bayonet used in the Çanakkale Campaign in 1892.
