An applied exam was conducted by the Faculty of Sports Sciences at Istanbul Rumeli University's Kadıköy Practice and Research Campus.
Gymnastics, also known as general gymnastics or gymnastic exercises, is the art of systematically moving the body to correct, strengthen, and develop its physical structure. It involves physical exercises that require balance, strength, training flexibility, agility, coordination, and endurance. All exercises performed to make the body agile and strong fall within the scope of general gymnastics. It is a discipline. Our students have learned these physical exercises step by step in class and put them into practice.
General Gymnastics Movement Education is a branch performed for demonstration purposes, and each country determines its own competition rules in this branch. It is a form of gymnastics involving various gymnastic movements and sometimes focusing on a specific theme with an emphasis on aesthetic appearance, where free sports clothing or costumes and any portable equipment can be used, accompanied by music. Work has been done for the final week suitable for this group gymnastics, and a choreography has been created.
There can be individual events for men or women, as well as mixed events with both compulsory and optional movements. Some of the basic gymnastic positions are forward roll, backward roll, shoulder roll, handstand, hoop, handstand on rings, cartwheel, small bridge, big bridge, dolphin roll, splits, glider, eagle, candle, and scissor positions. Compulsory movements are predetermined movements, while optional movements are unique movements arranged by gymnasts themselves to showcase their most successful aspects. An application has been developed based on the choices left to our students.
In the applied exam conducted within the scope of the General Gymnastics Movement Education course, our students showcased their knowledge and experiences in this discipline during the semester by performing choreographies prepared during the final week in a festive atmosphere. In our exam, which reduced the stress of the final week and allowed students to dedicate time for both studying and having fun, they put their knowledge into practice. Our exam, which also instilled team spirit, unity, and solidarity in our students, has been completed.
