At the end of 2 years of education, students of Istanbul Rumeli University Child Development Program graduate with an associate degree and the title of Child Development Technician. Child Development Program score type is TYT (Basic Proficiency Test) and the language of instruction is Turkish.
Associate degree graduates who have the title of child development technician can be employed in kindergartens, orphanage institutions, game rooms of hospitals, children's clubs of hotels, and rehabilitation centers.
Child Development Program’s students can do a double major during their 2-year education, and they can also complete their undergraduate education by taking the DGS (Vertical Transfer Exam) after graduation and gain advantages in both profit and preference in their professional life.
Rumeli Education Method; In addition to the applied curriculum, it includes additional certificate programs within the body of the Continuing Education Center, which are prepared by sector representatives and instructors who are experts in their fields, facilitating minor and double major opportunities, and providing profit and preference in professional life.
In addition to national job opportunities after graduation, our students are given Career English courses where they can follow the knowledge of their field in an international language and evaluate their job opportunities abroad.
The Child Development Program trains qualified professionals for units that provide services to the child, family and society in this field, and support and evaluate all development and skill areas of the child, with a training program that supports the development of children with typical and atypical development in the 0-18 age range. During the 2-year education period, Child Development Program receives the education of courses such as Child Development, Child and Drama, Child and Play, Childhood Diseases, Anatomy, Rehabilitation Education, Childhood Nutrition, by expert instructors. Practical lessons such as play and drama are taught in the "Drama Workshop". In addition, students have the opportunity to have practical experience in the field with the Professional Practice course in the third and fourth semesters. In Rehabilitation Education II course, students enrolled in the program are provided with the opportunity to observe in special education and rehabilitation institutions.
The language of the Child Development Associate Degree Department is Turkish. General English courses (compulsory by YÖK) are given by distance education. However, students whose General English level is B1 according to the CEFR, can attend İ.R.Ü. They can request Career English courses conducted under the Continuing Education Center. Career English courses open the way for students to follow the knowledge of their field in an international language and to search for opportunities abroad.
Students who successfully complete the associate degree education of Istanbul Rumeli University Child Development Program, after the education they have received from the expert academic staff of our university, with the Vertical Transfer Exam (DGS) without extending the term; They can complete their undergraduate education in Child Development, Special Education Teaching, and Preschool Teaching departments.
Horizontal transfer procedures can be applied in two ways with the criteria determined by the Higher Education Institution;
• Transfer in accordance with the principles of horizontal transfer between and within the institution with GPA.
• Inter-institutional and intra-institutional transfer in accordance with the principles of horizontal transfer with a central placement score.
Our students who are placed in the Child Development Program can transfer to the associate degree program of their choice according to the placement score type, with horizontal transfer between in-house and non-institutional programs after the first semester.
Our Child Development Program students can apply for the "Child Care and Youth Services Department" programs within the scope of the double major, and after the curriculum compliance with the departments in the Vocational Schools is decided. With the double major opportunity, our students can improve themselves during their education and certify their qualifications with diplomas and certificates.
Istanbul Rumeli University Child Development Program students are supported by the certificate programs given by the Continuing Education Center throughout their education period. The certificates to be issued follow the legislative updates. Students who successfully complete their certificate programs transition to professional business life by having the equipment needed in the international arena at the graduation stage.
