Istanbul Rumeli University Hosted a Double Major Program Experience Sharing Event

At the Experience Sharing Event on the Double Major Program organized by the Departments of International Relations and Political Science and Public Administration within the Faculty of Economics, Administrative and Social Sciences at Istanbul Rumeli University, many students who wanted to learn more about the Double Major Program (DMP), along with academics from both departments, participated in the event.

The main purpose of the event was to help students better understand the reasons for choosing the Double Major Program and to raise awareness about the academic and professional advantages offered by this process. During the program, where the importance of an interdisciplinary education model in career development was emphasized, experienced students enrolled in the DMP guided potential candidates and answered all questions regarding the process. The meeting, where personal experiences came to the forefront, also featured strategic discussions on academic development and career planning.

The speakers of the program, DMP students Seda Navruz, Turgay Özbaş, Ahmet Kurt, and Ömer Akarçay, shared from their own perspectives the benefits of specializing in two different fields. The speakers, who pursue both Political Science and Public Administration and International Relations simultaneously, stated that the complementary nature of the courses enabled them to gain a more comprehensive body of knowledge. Students pursuing a DMP in the Psychology Department as a different discipline also emphasized that challenges such as commuting between campuses and intensive exam periods were valuable experiences in gaining an interdisciplinary perspective.

At the event, where the functioning and advantages of the Double Major Program were explained through concrete examples, attention was drawn to the critical role of time management skills throughout the process. During the presentations, which attracted great interest from students, the contributions of the university’s DMP opportunities to academic success and their competitive advantages in the business world were discussed in detail. Enriched by the interactive participation of academics and students, the program concluded with messages of appreciation presented to the faculty members of both departments.
