Istanbul Rumeli University Faculty of Health Sciences Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation Department started its education and training program in the 2017-2018 academic year.
Students who follow and successfully complete the Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation program of our university receive the title of Physiotherapist with a bachelor's degree at the end of 4 years of education and are entitled to practice their profession as a Physiotherapist.
The Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation Department accepts students according to the score type (MF3) as a result of the Transition to Higher Education Exam (LYS) conducted by the Student Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM).
The Rumeli Education Method will be applied to the students of Istanbul Rumeli University Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation Department, which will increase their preference when they complete their 4-year education and graduate.
Rumelian Education Method; In addition to the curriculum applied, it includes additional certificate programs that will facilitate the opportunities for minor and double major programs prepared by expert educators and will provide profit and preference in professional life.
Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation department; It trains members with professional autonomy who have received at least four (4) years of undergraduate education in accordance with the determined international standards. Physical therapy and rehabilitation; It encompasses all approaches taken to improve the functional abilities and mobility of individuals and societies throughout their lives. Physiotherapist; He is an active and effective member of the health care team who can identify the physiotherapy and rehabilitation needs of healthy, sick and disabled individuals, and can make the necessary practices to meet these needs at the level of professional standards in line with the evaluations. Department of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation; It aims to train physiotherapists who follow current scientific developments in physiotherapy, aim to increase the quality of healthy life and apply versatile physical therapy approaches, have high communication skills and can give confidence. The Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation department includes basic sciences, clinical sciences, vocational courses, research methods, seminars and clinical practice for evaluation, planning and implementation of the treatment program in movement system problems during the 4-year education period. Physiotherapists who graduate from this program can continue their careers as health professionals and can do high-level academic studies if they wish. The students, who receive education with the latest technological equipment and devices and expert academicians in the physiotherapy laboratory of Istanbul Rumeli University, gain experience before they move to their post-graduation work areas. Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation undergraduate program students receive hands-on training in the physiotherapy and rehabilitation laboratory located on the campus. The clinical practice experience they will apply within the Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation Application and Research Center (IRUFİZMER) located in the campus will also contribute to the students. Providing students with the opportunity to practice in the physiotherapy study areas during the education process increases the practical skills of the graduates and supports them in clinical decision making. In this way, our students can work voluntarily in the fields of physiotherapy with the basic knowledge they have received after the third semester. Physiotherapists can pursue an academic career by participating in master's and doctoral programs at universities, and they can also specialize in a certain field in the institutions they work (neurological rehabilitation, orthopedic rehabilitation, sports physiotherapist, etc.). Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation graduates, in the institutions and organizations they work; In line with their areas of expertise, experience, and service content of institutions and organizations, they can take place in management levels. Those who want to work as a Physiotherapist in the sector by choosing the Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation program; Today, with the increase in the importance given to health and quality life, the working areas of the students who graduated from the Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation department have also expanded considerably. He works in fields such as Orthopedic Rehabilitation, Neurological Rehabilitation, Spinal Pain, Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation, Pediatric Rehabilitation, Hand surgery, Women's and Men's health, Athlete's health. Physiotherapists; are employed in state, private or university hospitals, medical centers, rehabilitation centers, sports clubs, wellness centers, private clinics, nursing homes, thermal hotels, primary health care services. Students who want to pursue an academic career after graduation can pursue a master's and doctorate. Our students in the Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation Department of the Faculty of Health Sciences have the right to receive a bachelor's degree in two different fields, without extending the semester, in the departments such as "Nutrition and Dietetics", "Nursing", "Psychology" with the double major program. Our students who are enrolled in the undergraduate education program in the Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation department can simultaneously and successfully complete some courses from a different department in our university and get a certificate by increasing their knowledge in a different field with minor programs. With double major and minor opportunities, our students can improve themselves during their education and certify their qualifications with diplomas and certificates. The language of education is Turkish. Faculty of Health Sciences sends its students to universities abroad within the scope of quota every year within the scope of exchange programs managed by Istanbul Rumeli University Erasmus Coordinatorship and accepts students from partner universities within the scope of protocol. Istanbul Rumeli University Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation Department students are supported by certificate programs given by the Continuing Education Center throughout their education period. The certificates to be issued follow the legislative updates. Students who successfully complete their certificate programs transition to professional business life by having the equipment needed in the international arena at the graduation stage. Due to the importance of applications in technical life, our students have to successfully complete their internships in order to enable them to get to know the business areas related to the departments they study, learn the activities in the workplace, and apply the knowledge and skills they have acquired through education and training by doing practical work. Our students will be able to reinforce the basic lessons they have learned with the internships they will do in the second and third grades. Our students have the opportunity to do their internships in contracted institutions and private hospitals.
