The foundations of Istanbul Rumeli University Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences were laid by the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture, which was established in the 2017-2018 academic year. It gave its first graduates at the end of the 2020-2021 academic year. Since the 2021-2022 academic year, our faculty has been continuing its education with a total of 3 departments consisting of basic sciences courses, Computer Engineering, Industrial Engineering and Civil Engineering with common first and second semesters.
We will need young people like you, who want to be engineers, today and in the future, as we did yesterday. The primary goal of our university is to raise engineers and researchers with universal qualifications who can lead the development of industry and society in our country. We are aware of the importance of engineer candidates like you, who will work together with academicians in researches that will develop engineering sciences and technologies and contribute to the use of the knowledge and technologies produced for the benefit of society.
Our academicians, who have been educated in well-known and qualified universities at home and abroad and have proven themselves with their scientific studies, aim to educate the engineers of today and the future by using all kinds of learning and teaching techniques and modern laboratory facilities of our faculty.
The definition of the university as a world city has led us to train our students with the "Workplace Learning Model". For this reason, engineering education curricula include "Workplace Practice I" and "Workplace Practice II" courses. Our students do the "Workplace Practice" course as a voluntary internship during the semester and as a compulsory internship in the summer. At the end of the "Practice in the Workplace" course, the industrial organization can continue on the road together after graduation and our graduates can find a job without delay. The fact that our faculty is located in Silivri, Istanbul, in a region that is the heart of Turkey's industry, is an important opportunity for our students.
From here, I would like to thank the academicians and administrative staff of our faculty, and I wish our dear young people who will choose the engineering departments of our faculty by adopting the goals of our university to turn their hopes into reality and wish them success.
