Psychology

Psychology Department at Istanbul Rumeli University has the entrance score type of EA (Equal Weight) and the language of instruction is Turkish. At the end of 4 years of education, our students graduate with a bachelor's degree and the title of Psychologist. Depending on the field of master's degree, they can take titles such as Clinical Psychologist, Social Psychologist, or Master of Science in Psychology.

During the education, courses in sub-fields such as research methods, experimental psychology, physiological psychology, cognitive psychology, industrial and organizational psychology, social psychology, developmental psychology, clinical psychology are provided. Due to the Clinical Psychology Master's and Doctorate Programs, our academic staff mainly consists of experts in the field of clinical psychology. In this direction, elective courses are mainly offered in this field.

Psychologists are hired in public and private hospitals, kindergartens and preschools, special education centers, research companies, institutions affiliated to the ministry of family and social policies, nursing homes, industrial organizations, human resources departments, guidance and research centers, police departments, judicial institutions (family courts), prison and detention houses, psychotechnical centers, counseling centers, research centers, media companies.

Psychologists can also take part in managerial positions in the institutions and organizations they work in, according to their areas of expertise and in line with the content of their services. Those with a psychology license can specialize in sub-fields such as clinical, experimental, industrial and organizational, developmental psychology, forensic psychology and serve in related institutions. They can continue their academic careers by completing their graduate education.

Our students who benefit from the Rumeli Education Method can benefit from additional certificate programs that facilitate minor and double major opportunities and provide gains and preference in professional life. With Career English courses, they can reach the knowledge of their field in an international language and utilize their job opportunities abroad.

 

 

The language of instruction of the psychology undergraduate department is Turkish. General English courses (compulsory by YÖK) are given remotely. Students whose general English level is B1 according to CEFR can request to enroll in Career English courses conducted under the Continuing Education Center. Career English courses open the way for students to obtain the knowledge of their field in an international language and to search for job opportunities abroad.

Our students will be able to improve their knowledge and competencies by receiving interdisciplinary education with double major (DMP) and minor program opportunities and certify them with a second diploma and certificate.
The Psychology Department has a DMP protocol with all departments in the Faculty of Economics, Administrative and Social Sciences, Faculty of Sport Sciences and Faculty of Health Sciences. In addition, agreements have been made with the Child Development and Gastronomy and Culinary Arts departments. If the students want to do DMP with another department, their suitability will be evaluated by consulting with the related department.
In the minor program, the student takes a certain number of courses from another department that interests him or her. Students who successfully complete the courses are entitled to receive a minor certificate.

Students of Istanbul Rumeli University Psychology Department are supported by certificate programs given by the Continuing Education Center. In addition to the topics that all students can benefit from, such as speed reading, certificate programs are also organized specifically for the field in cooperation with the Psychology Application and Research Center. Students who successfully complete their certificate programs transition to professional business life with the equipment needed in the field, after their graduation.
