About the Department

With the start of civil aviation, the benefits of this transportation model have been seen and the demand has increased. With the increase in the number of airports, airlines and planes as a result of the increasing demand, the aviation industry needed employees who could work in the field. In order to meet the demand, educational institutions were established and universities started to open aviation departments in order to train personnel to work in the sector. Aviation Management is one of them. Due to the need for department graduates in the sector, employment opportunities are also quite wide.

 

 

The main aim of the program is to train undergraduate graduates who have a good command of airport planning, design and management, airline and air transport management by laying the necessary foundations for management and aviation. The program focuses its graduates on aviation management careers; It has a comprehensive curriculum organized mainly on management sciences and aviation field information. As a result of the rapid developments in the transportation sector in recent years, there have been changes in the personnel profile needed by the sector. The need for qualified personnel in the rapidly growing civil aviation industry is increasing day by day. As a result of the rapid developments that the Turkish Civil Air Transport sector has shown in recent years, there have been changes in the personnel profile needed by the sector. In this context; Our aim is to meet the qualified personnel needs of the Civil Aviation sector.

The Department of Aviation Management is an undergraduate department that covers a 4-year education period. Apart from compulsory common courses; Civil Aviation Rules, Airport and Activities, Logistics Management, Quality Management in Aviation, Meteorology, Air Law, Safety Management Systems, Corporate Management, Financial Management, Air Traffic Rules and Services, Human Resources Management, Airline Fleet Planning, Air Cargo Transportation courses are given. During the education, the curriculum prepared by using different disciplines is presented to the students in order to provide both theoretical and practical equipment. Thus, it is aimed that they can evaluate job opportunities both in Turkey and abroad and become qualified graduates. Same time; Seminars are organized with the leading names and managers of the sector, expert personnel in their fields, who are active in the sector, and students are brought together.

Our students who graduated from Istanbul Rumeli University Aviation Management Department;
-To have a say in the fields and subjects in which they are specialized when they graduate, to be able to make correct, competent and constructive comments and contributions.
-To have an effective knowledge in the aviation sector and to advance towards leadership in their profession.
For these reasons listed, Istanbul Rumeli University Aviation Management Department is offered to the benefit of our young people who are willing to respond to the growth and increasing demand in the aviation industry of our country, our region and the world. While Istanbul Rumeli University aims to serve all areas of the sector with RumeliSEM Flight School and other Aviation Programs, it also aims to instill in students the value that the aviation field deserves and to graduate with this discipline.

As in every profession, people who will work in aviation are expected to have certain characteristics. These are as follows;
Aviation is a global industry. Therefore, it is very important for the candidates who will work here to know a foreign language, especially English.
-Depending on the work to be done, sector employees are expected to have a quick thinking structure. It may be necessary to produce quick solutions in the face of a problem.
Besides, aviation is an industry that does not stop 24 hours a day. For this reason, some professions work with a shift system. It may be desirable for those who will work in the sector to be able to adapt to flexible working hours.
The consequences of some mistakes made in aviation can be very serious. Employees must understand the seriousness of the issue and act accordingly.

The work areas of the graduates of the Aviation Management department are more diverse than the graduates of other aviation departments. Graduates from this department:
-Airports; ground services officer, passenger services officer, operations officer, terminal operations officer, operations control center officer and ramp tower planning officer,
-Airlines; flight operations specialist (dispatcher), fleet planning specialist, crew planning specialist, ground services officer and air cargo operations specialist,
-Aviation authorities; They can work in professions such as apron officer, air traffic controller, safety and flight operations manager. In addition, different job opportunities are created according to the structures of the enterprises.

Our students in the Department of Aviation Management, with their double major program, can choose in two different fields without extending the semester, in accordance with the relevant regulations such as "Political Science and Public Administration", "International Relations", "Psychology", "Business Administration" and "Radio, Television and Cinema". entitled to a bachelor's degree.
A student enrolled in the Aviation Management undergraduate program has the right to successfully complete some courses from a different department in our university and to receive a certificate in a minor branch.
With double major and minor opportunities, our students can improve themselves during their education and certify their qualifications with diplomas and certificates.

The language of instruction in the program is Turkish. However, in addition to English I and English II courses, Aviation English I and Aviation English II courses are offered.

The Faculty of Economics, Administrative and Social Sciences sends its students to universities in Turkey and abroad within the quota every year within the scope of exchange programs managed by Istanbul Rumeli University International Relations Office and accepts students from partner universities within the scope of the protocol.

Students of Istanbul Rumeli University Aviation Management Department can benefit from the certificate programs given by the Continuing Education Center during their education period. The certificates to be issued are in compliance with the legislative updates. Students who successfully complete their certificate programs have the necessary equipment in the international arena at the graduation stage and can transition to their professional business life.

Due to the importance of applications in technical life, our students have to successfully complete internships in order to get to know the business areas related to the departments they study, learn the activities in the workplace, and apply the knowledge and skills they have acquired through education and training by doing practical work. There is a compulsory internship in the 7th semester of the program.
