Health Literacy

Health Literacy

Health is defined by the World Health Organization as "not just the absence of disease or disability, but a state of complete physical, mental, and social well-being." Health literacy, an important determinant of health outcomes, refers to the knowledge, motivation, and competence to make decisions about promoting, maintaining, and enhancing health, as well as preventing diseases, accessing information, understanding, evaluating, and applying that information.

As health literacy becomes more widespread, it will lead to increased health awareness and improved quality of care, while proportionally reducing the budget and time allocated to healthcare services. Therefore, there is a need for educational initiatives aimed at increasing health literacy among healthcare professionals.
