Celebrated every year on October 5th, World Teachers' Day provides an important international opportunity to remember, appreciate, and express our gratitude for the contributions teachers make to education and societal development. At Istanbul Rumeli University, we take this special day to highlight our gratitude to all teachers who shape our future and touch the lives of individuals.
The origins of World Teachers' Day date back to the "Recommendation concerning the Status of Teachers," which was signed on October 5, 1966, addressing teachers' rights, working conditions, and professional development. This historic decision was prepared by UNESCO and the International Labour Organization (ILO) to strengthen the societal status of teachers and is considered a turning point in the field of education. Since 1994, this meaningful day has continued to be celebrated worldwide, providing a platform to maintain the dignity of teachers and appreciate their efforts.
Teaching goes beyond merely imparting knowledge; it is a profession that guides students, encourages them, and propels society forward. Teachers who inspire each student enable them to discover their talents and become future leaders while shaping the future of society. In addition to educating individuals, teachers are key actors in social transformation.
At Istanbul Rumeli University, we are aware of the sacrifices our teachers make in performing this sacred profession. Our esteemed faculty members guide our students in every lesson and project, contributing to the enlightenment of society. On this occasion, we celebrate all teachers who hold an important place in the world of education on World Teachers' Day, October 5th, and wish for their successes and contributions to continue to grow. As the future is shaped in the hands of our teachers, we are grateful for everything they contribute to society through their hard work.
