Our Rector, Prof. Dr. Mustafa Kara, visited the Heraion Teikhos archaeological site in Tekirdağ, accompanied by Tekirdağ Metropolitan Mayor Candan Yüceer and his team. This historical site, known as one of the significant centers of the ancient Thracian civilization, holds great academic and cultural importance.
During the visit, Rector Kara was joined by Board Member Sadun Yavuz, Dean of the Faculty of Economic Administrative and Social Sciences Prof. Dr. Ahmet Mucip Gökçen, and Acting Dean of the Faculty of Art, Design, and Architecture Prof. Dr. Neşe Atik.
They had the opportunity to gain detailed information about the region's historical and archaeological riches. Prof. Dr. Neşe Atik delivered a comprehensive presentation on the importance of the excavation works and the historical value of the findings in the area. She also highlighted how these efforts contribute to the region's cultural heritage and emphasized the importance of student and academic participation in such projects.
Heraion Teikhos stands out not only as an important archaeological site that strengthens our ties to the past and sheds light on the future but also as a center that offers research and educational opportunities for our university. Such visits aim to enhance the cultural and historical awareness of both local communities and our university.
