A training session on "Healthy Nutrition and Physical Activity in Childhood" was held under the theme of Healthy Aging by the Department of Nutrition and Dietetics at Istanbul Rumeli University. Research Assistant Aslı Hilal GÜZELALP participated as a speaker.
Güzelalp emphasized the importance of physical activity and healthy nutrition for children's healthy growth and development. With the increasing prevalence of technology today, children's levels of physical activity have decreased, and unhealthy eating habits have risen. It is crucial for families to recognize their responsibilities in this regard and to support children in developing healthy habits.
A healthy nutrition habit positively impacts children's energy levels, concentration, and overall health. With the rise of fast food and processed foods, health issues such as obesity, diabetes, and heart disease are becoming more common in childhood.
Regular physical activity supports children's bone and muscle development, reduces the risk of obesity, alleviates stress, and increases overall happiness. However, today, children tend to spend excessive amounts of time on computers, tablets, and smartphones, distancing themselves from physical activities. It is essential for families to encourage their children to participate in sports, to take walks together, and to engage in active games at home.
The training concluded by providing information on the benefits of integrating healthy nutrition and physical activity.
