The "Hezarfen Ahmed Çelebi in Aviation History" panel was held at Istanbul Rumeli University's Haliç Application and Research Campus, organized in collaboration with the Faculty of Economics, Administrative and Social Sciences' Aviation Management Department and SORUM. The event was attended by Vice Rector and Head of the Aviation Management Department Prof. Dr. Ayşe Yiğit Şakar, Director of the Continuing Education Center Lect. Serap Daş, and numerous Aviation Management students.
The program began with a moment of silence and the singing of the national anthem. This was followed by an opening speech from Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Ayşe Yiğit Şakar, who emphasized the significance of aviation history and highlighted Hezarfen Ahmed Çelebi's pivotal role within it.
Following the opening remarks, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Akansel Yalçınkaya provided insights into the historical background of Hezarfen Ahmed Çelebi and his importance in aviation history. Yalçınkaya underscored the significance of Hezarfen Ahmed Çelebi's flight experiments during the Ottoman Empire, noting their importance not only to Turkish aviation history but also to global aviation history.
Next, director and producer Orhan Bal discussed the role of animated films in cultural transmission, sharing valuable insights with students and other panel attendees. Bal emphasized that animated films serve as more than just entertainment; they are crucial tools for passing historical and cultural values to new generations. This segment, which captivated the students, highlighted the role of animated films in education and the cultivation of cultural awareness.
At the panel's conclusion, speakers answered questions from the students. The event wrapped up with the presentation of plaques to the speakers and the end of the panel.
