In an event organized by the Department of Hotel, Restaurant, and Catering Services at Istanbul Rumeli University, students had the opportunity to meet renowned Italian chef Salvatore Cannetiello and explore the unique world of Italian cuisine. Cannetiello, the owner and head chef of Pizzeria Il Pellicano, shared both theoretical knowledge and practical techniques with students during the "Pizza Workshop."
During the workshop, Cannetiello demonstrated the characteristics of Neapolitan pizza dough, various types of pizza dough, and dough stretching techniques. He also shared insights on the history of Italian cuisine, the origins of pizza, and the diversity of Italian dishes based on the country’s regions. Additionally, Chef Cannetiello shared his experiences about working in international kitchens.
Throughout the event, students had the chance to engage in conversation with Chef Salvatore, asking questions about the industry and benefiting from his professional experiences. Chef Cannetiello captivated the participants with an engaging presentation and actively involved them in the pizza-making process.
The workshop concluded with the presentation of a plaque to Chef Salvatore Cannetiello by Lecturer Sevcan Özkan, Head of the Department of Hotel, Restaurant, and Catering Services, in recognition of his contributions to the event. The experience was both inspiring and educational for the students, providing valuable insights into the development of industry skills.
