The graduation ceremony for the 2023-2024 academic year of Istanbul Rumeli University's Graduate School was held at our Haliç campus. The ceremony was attended by our Rector Prof. Dr. Mustafa Kara, Board of Trustees Member Mr. Sadun Yavuz, our Vice Rectors Prof. Dr. Ayşe Yiğit Şakar and Prof. Dr. Ömer Çetin, Graduate School Director Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sibel Doğan, our Deans, Heads of Departments, the academic and administrative staff of our university, and the families of our graduates.
The program began with a cocktail reception in the foyer, where our participants enjoyed pleasant conversations. After the cocktail, the graduation ceremony proceeded in the hybrid hall.
The ceremony started with a moment of silence and the national anthem. It was followed by a short promotional video of our university and a tribute video in memory of our founder, Mr. Mehmet Balcı. Graduate School Director Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sibel Doğan delivered the opening speech. She stated, “Dear graduates, with the knowledge and skills you possess, you have the opportunity to contribute not only to your careers but also to the development of society. Remember that knowledge is power, but using it for good is true strength. You are the future leaders, innovators, and change-makers…”
Our Rector Prof. Dr. Mustafa Kara was invited to the stage to speak about the significance of the day. He expressed, “The aim of our institute is to train competent individuals, and our goal is to reach the level of contemporary civilization. Dear students, you are our future.” Near the end of his speech, he added, “Esteemed guests, dear parents, I respectfully salute all of our academics, instructors, heads of departments, and deans who have supported our students on this journey. May your paths be bright and open.”
Following the speeches, Ms. Özlem Şirin, the graduate with the highest overall success ranking from the Clinical Psychology Master's Program, delivered her speech, after which the diploma ceremony commenced. Cansu Tunahan, the first graduate of the Business Doctorate Program, was invited to the stage for the plaque presentation. Our Rector Prof. Dr. Mustafa Kara presented the plaque to her.
During the ceremony, graduates from the Departments of Exercise and Movement Sciences, Civil Engineering, Occupational Health and Safety, Business, Clinical Psychology, Psychology, Architecture, and Political Science and Economics were called to the stage in order to receive their diplomas. Students who graduated with the highest honors from each department were presented with plaques. Diplomas were awarded to the graduates by the Heads of Departments and their instructors. The ceremony concluded with a cap-throwing celebration filled with great enthusiasm.
