Faculty members and students from the Department of Gastronomy and Culinary Arts at Istanbul Rumeli University participated in the event titled "1st Gastronomy Trends and Local Cuisines Forum" hosted by Istanbul Topkapı University. The forum featured discussions on various significant topics by Michelin-starred chefs and experienced academicians.
Under the theme of "Synesthetic Eating Behaviors," students gained in-depth knowledge about the sensory experiences of food and sensory approaches to dining. Similarly, the presentation on "Turkish Cuisine from Çatalhöyük to Present Day" provided an important perspective on the origins, history, and evolution of Turkish cuisine. The topic of "Geography and Food" explored the geographical origins of food and the impact of geography on cuisine.
This event not only increased students' interest in gastronomy and culinary arts but also significantly contributed to expanding their knowledge base. Moreover, by interacting with industry professionals, students had the opportunity to network and establish valuable connections for their careers.
