A training session on the MIND diet for brain health was conducted by the Department of Nutrition and Dietetics at Istanbul Rumeli University, under the theme of Healthy Aging. Research Assistant Sanem Güven participated as the speaker.
Güven emphasized that "Nutrition can be an important modifiable risk factor in preventing or delaying the onset of dementia and other causes of cognitive decline. There are numerous studies examining whether a specific food or diet can help prevent or delay dementia caused by Alzheimer's disease. Research has shown that nutrition can affect the aging brain's ability to think and remember," highlighting the increasing importance of nutrition throughout all stages of life, especially in older age.
The training continued with a discussion of the MIND diet, which focuses on brain health and incorporates DASH and Mediterranean diet approaches. It was noted that the MIND diet aims to prevent dementia and brain function loss based on the data collected by researchers.
The session concluded by providing participants with significant insights into the potential benefits of the MIND diet for maintaining brain health.
